Former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has expressed his willingness to leave Yemen for Saudi Arabia or Oman under US pressure to help find a political solution to the crisis in the country, an Emirati newspaper reported.

The newspaper Khaleej , according to what a news agency, reported that undeclared contacts took place during the last period between US officials and Saleh ended by persuading the latter to contribute to the political solution through his departure to Yemen.

The newspaper pointed out that Saleh had made implicit in these contacts during his penultimate appearance by saying that he received foreign offers to accept a political settlement of the Yemeni crisis.

Saleh had expressed his readiness to leave Yemen and step down from the presidency of the General People's Congress, in return for direct negotiations with him by Saudi Arabia and stopping the military operations of the Arab Coalition in Yemen, it added.
